It actually offends me watching Lars try to play this.. Why god? Why did he become so bad? The whole band is constantly compensating, skewing the rhythms of the songs to try to stay in time with him. I don't know how they don't go insane, having to put up with it night after night. At 5:08 for example, Lars totally changes the tempo and the groove by removing one entire sixteenth note on the kick. What the FUCK is he thinking? Watching Lars vandalise Metallica songs with his incompetent pre-school level drumming is like someone going into an art gallery and just drawing dicks over every single artwork in the building. It is criminal and it is poor taste.. Although the dicks in the art gallery would probably be more aesthetically pleasing than watching Lars play. But seriously, Metallica, where is the quality control?? I know they are intelligent people in the band. Why don't they do something about this garbage? If not for the sake of their own sanity, at least for the fans. Fans are paying money to see a band play music and I think Lars is forgetting this. If you go to an expensive restaurant, you expect a quality experience, not a half-assed under-cooked meal. And that's what Metallica delivers night after night, half-baked shit storms referred to as songs. This is mainly due to Lars' poisonous, destructive playing and his undeniably awful interpretation of the songs. It brings the whole band down and makes them worse musicians in the long run, by skewing their sense of rhythm, tempo and dynamics. It's like Lars doesn't even give a shit about the band's musicality, reputation or legacy. He just wants to go to 'work' and do the same old sloppy, uninspired shit every day. Lars was never an excellent drummer, but he did used to be really suited to the band, as a great composer and co-writer. He would tastefully implement his bag of tricks (as Bob Rock would say) into the band in a clever and interesting way. AJFA and The Black Album were excellent examples of this. What happened? Seriously, WHAT. THE. FUCK. happened? Yeah you can blame it on age but Dave Lombardo is around Lars' age and is as good as he's ever been. Gosh, I think of million drummers older than Lars that still tour like crazy and play extremely well. Lars is in good health and good shape. Eric Moore is about 500 kilos but can still play like a beast. Far out.. This whole Lars situation makes me really fucking depressed to be honest.. As you can probably tell by this long-winded, elaborate rant. I grew up on his drumming. He was a huge inspiration.. and now.. seeing these pathetic performances, just.. just makes me miserable. Why not stop now Lars? Please.. Before it's too late and your legacy is only remembered as the cruddy bald guy trying to pull faces and play drums. Please stop for the sake of your dignity. Or at least just practice to a fucking metronome. This is basic, fundamental stuff that he's neglecting. He makes an otherwise classic band unlistenable Just because the band is a household name, it's like people are just in denial of how objectively bad Lars is. Fuck.
