Metal Hammer magazine recently conducted an exclusive interview with METALLICA’s drummer Lars Ulrich about the progress of their recording sessions for the group’s new album. A few excerpts from the chat follow:

Metal Hammer A lot of people are clamoring for some hard news about the new record. What can you give us?

Lars Ulrich What is ‘hard news’ [laughs].

Metal Hammer Release date, song titles, song lengths…you’ve got some shows coming up this summer...

Lars Ulrich Well, the album won’t be out before the summer, but it will be for the most part done by then. I’ve heard some gripes from, you know, ‘people’ who think this record should be out already, but we’re not going to, you know, hurry up the process or anything like that. We’ve never been about that… <pauses>… when this album comes out, within the first 30 seconds of listening to it, most people will forget about the time period anyway. I’m really proud of what we’re doing here and, you know, the effort that this band has put in on this. This record feels…special, like we’ve captured something unique that is, you know, more than a ‘metal’ record.

Metal Hammer What do you mean, more than a ‘metal’ record?

Lars Ulrich Like, it is ‘metal’ but it feels like it will…transcend genres and, you know, labels. I feel about this album kind of like how I felt about the Black Album…not that it sounds like the black album. People are going to read this and start saying we made…’Black Album 2’ or something.

Metal hammer So, any ballpark on a release date? Month? Season? Decade?

Lars Ulrich I don’t want to make any promises, because if I say you know, it might come out around… September, and it doesn’t, the kids will all be like ‘fuck you Lars’ but I would say a fall release is…somewhat the projection. People are going to, you know “hear stuff” at the shows [this summer] that they haven’t heard before, and you know, that should tide them over until it [the album] is out.

1º Possibilidade - O pessoal tem a esperança de que o álbum seja lançado antes de setembro... maio ou abril de preferência

2º Possibilidade - O fato do Lars falar de um "Black Album 2".....porque ele teve na gravação do disco atual a mesma sensação quando foi feito o Black Album....isso aí dá margem para várias interpretações....

3º Possibilidade - O lançamento do CD pode ser depois de Setembro.....os shows seriam uma forma de acalmar os fãs, já que o Lars fala em "coisas novas" com relação a musicas nesse show...."....Tá parecendo a situação do Load.....os caras já tocavam as músicas antes mesmo do álbum ser lançado.....

Enfim.....acho que é isso.........como terei um ano bem desgraçado na faculdade....o tempo vai passar bem rápido.......
